South Beach Diet Food List

The South Beach Diet food list contains many more carbohydrates than that of the Atkins Diet.

If you have decided to change the way you eat in order to lose weight, and have chosen a low carb diet program, chances are, you've either chosen the Atkins Diet plan, or the South Beach Diet. Food lists on both of these diet plans are very similar in that they both limit carbs, however, the South Beach Diet contains many more carbohydrates than that of the Atkins Diet.

How Does the South Beach Diet Differ From Atkins

As we've mentioned, the South Beach Diet food list is different from other diets' lists because it is not really considered low carb or low fat. Proponents of the South Beach diet say that this diet teaches you to change the balance of the foods you eat. This diet will help you stop eating the BAD carbs and BAD fats that are present in most peoples' diets.

The main difference between the South Beach Diet and Atkins Diet food list is that the South Beach diet food list contains plenty of vegetables. The carbs that the South Beach diet limits tend to be more in the way of breads and pastas. For example, like with the Atkins Diet, on the first fourteen days of the diet plan, you are not allowed to eat any bread, rice, potatoes, pasta, baked goods, or fruit of any kind.

Again, like the Atkins Diet, the second phase of the South Beach diet allows you to slowly add more and more carbs back into your daily meal plans, but in limited quantities. They also claim to teach you which carbs are good for you and which are bad for you.

Once you've entered the maintenance phase of the South Beach diet, food lists continue to expand. You'll now be adding even more good carbs and fats back into your diet, and presumably be enjoying all of the foods you love to eat.

Again, on both the Atkins Diet and the South Beach diet, you will find yourself eating low carb. The main difference in the diet is truly found in the amount of carbohydrates you can eat during each phase of the diet.
